Save On Car Insurance!

Blogged in General by Father Bishoy Sunday July 16, 2006

A year ago my car was hit by another car from the back. I stopped and looked; it wasn’t too bad and my bumper is decorative any way. The man was going to give me his info in order to repair my car but something told me “forgive and you will be forgiven.” I told the man, “I’m cool it’s not a big deal … have a nice day!” As I meditated on my bumper a couple of days later, I doubted the voice. “Why didn’t I just get his info even if I don’t use it?” I said to myself; but I remembered the sound was very clear “forgive and you will be forgiven.”

Two weeks later, I hit the door of an SUV. I left my info and was waiting to hear from these people. Now it’s a year after and I haven’t heard from them - I guess they forgave me!

Just last week I hit another car when I was parking (that’s why the church decided to dedicate a special parking spot for me next to curb - to avoid constant lawsuits!). Anyway, I left my info again and still haven’t heard from them; maybe they forgave me too!

So I guess the lesson from this is: Do you want to save on car insurance? You don’t have to switch to Geico; just start forgiving!

People say what goes around comes around, and that’s very true in a sense, but what’s more true is what our bible says, “now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace” (James 3:18), and even more touching how James described God’s nature, “mercy triumphs over judgment” (James 2: 13) so does our mercy hold us back from applying rules and laws created by people?? Thanks Abouna for reminding us of this great virtue.

That’s a great lesson Abouna! Being Christ like always pays off in the end. I’m really glad that God led you to start this blog, its going to be so beneficial to so many of us. I know for me it will be a place I come to every time I need comfort or even when I just need a reminder of how much God does for me.

Oh and about the bumping into cars try not to make that a habit ;)

Wow! This is definitely NOT what the world teaches us to do.
Jesus’ teachings and promises are so real.. Thanks for sharing this Abouna!

P.S. I may not have the habit of bumping into cars, but I could use this principle to have God forgiving me about other expensive habits :)

When is it a good time to forgive and let go, and when is it a good time to hold people accountable? (iron sharpening iron)

By the way, Abouna, I’m enjoying this blog. You have an interesting writing style.

    Thanks Paul!
I think when you represent Christ (as a Christian) you have to forgive; but if you are a father you should hold your son accountable in order to teach him how to be responsible.
